Get your bagel & Lox fix here for brunch! Ask for outdoor seating in the balcony/patio area! Fred's got the best views of the Hollywood Hills!

I visited the BH location for the first time new years day for my moms birthday brunch and I was rather shocked at the interior condition of the place. It is not nearly as well maintained as the NYC location and there are visible cracks on the walls. I provided the hostess with candles for my moms desert and I would have preferred that they not put in on the desert as supposed to bringing the desert with an unlit candle. The service and food was good and I would most likely return and be seated outside.

Service was good and the remodel was also nice. The food was mediocre at best and overpriced for what it was. The chicken soup, although home made, was bland. The Palm Springs salad aimed for quality not quality. The huge prawns where nice but should have been sautéed not steamed, and really, should a place like Fred's be using bagged salad mix? When will these places learn how to prepare a salad using fresh lettuces that are cleaned and chilled the trimmed and just before serving? My two son's had the burgers which they seemed to enjoy despite the fact that the they where switched and the one who ordered medium well got very rare and the one who ordered medium rare got well done. The clientele at Fred's obviously does not shop at Barney's and the ghastly plastic surgeries were painful just to look at. It was like being at a circus or a freak show.
